PAWS raise 1210€ at the 8th Hippy night held at Miraflores

It was a fantastic night at Miraflores at Camping Los Gallardos as some 200 wannabe hippies danced the night away to the very best 60’s songs from The Daytrippers. It was the 8th annual Hippies night organised as always by the efficient and ambitious Siobhan Tattan and this year it raised a whopping €1.210 for local animal shelter PAWS. Siobhan thanked Miraflores for another stunning evening, saying that “We could not have asked for a better night. Everything was just spot on. The food I was told by everyone was perfect. It came out right on time and was really […]

New laundrette opens onsite

Camping Los Gallardos is delighted to announce the opening of its new fully self service laundrette onsite, in conjunction with “LavaTur”. Brand new fully automatic washing machines and dryers have been installed. The washing machine automatically dispenses detergent & softener into every wash, meaning you don’t have to worry about purchasing and storing large bottles. The laundrette is located at the rear of the shower block, next to the hairdresser salon. A full wash costs just 3,50€ and the tumble dryer just 2€. Outside washing lines are provided for free near the laundrette (please note on pitch washing lines are […]

Modification to the price of water

Dear all, Due to an increase in the tax levied on our water bills, we have been forced to increase the price of our water for the first time in several years. Whilst the base cost of the water supplied to the site by GALASA has not changed, a levy charged by the regional government to finance water improvements in the area has gone up this month. The levy is charged per unit (m3) of water and so we must pass on the increased tax rate to our customers. Therefore, as from this month, a unit of water (one cubic […]

Walking football report 25th Jan

Walking Football 8th Game Unfortunately for me I had forgotten to bring my ear defenders so as I approached the pitch I was subjected to the sounds of the warm-up. From a distance it sounded like the amplified soundtrack of the popular TV advert for a well known breakfast cereal. “Snap, crackle and pop.” The Mighty Vicko inflated his lungs and was about to blow the whistle when he spied a latecomer trying to slink unnoticed on to the pitch. “I say chappy,” he said in his mellifluous Liverpool accent. “You appear to be a tad late. For that great […]

Walking Football writeup for 18th Jan

Walking Football 7th Press release As soon as both teams had finished their warm up exercises, I removed my ear defenders. I can`t stand the sound of creaking bones and snapping tendons. The colostomy bowser I mentioned last week was already in place and is proving very popular with players and with spectators. The sloshing sounds emanating from some of the players as they moved around the pitch, especially during the second half, were becoming a distraction so we are very grateful to the person who donated this piece of equipment. Not only does he, or she, wish to remain […]

Walking football 6th January write up

Walking Football 6th Press release With Christmas and New Year a distant memory, the Dangerous Old Men Of Steel began their 6th game of Walking football here at Camping Los Gallardos. Sadly they still have to pick teams from players here on the site because as yet, no one else has found the courage to face this herculean group of ageing super heroes. As I approached the field I could hear the cracking of bones, the creaking of arthritic joints and the thwacking snap of tendons as they finished their warm up routine. Our ref, the Mighty Vicko blew his […]

C´mon up if you think you´re hard enough!

An account of the first game of “Walking Football” played onsite, and possibly, the first such game in Spain! There was tension on the old Bowling Green at Camping Los Gallardos on Sunday as two teams faced each other for what is probably the first game of ‘Walking Football’ in Almería, or perhaps the whole of Spain. This first game was the brainchild of resident Peter Kelly. “I was inspired to do it,” said Peter, “after seeing an advert on TV where one of the high street banks gave funding to someone who wanted to start a ‘Walking Football Club’. […]

Fun bowling day with the Lodge of Unity at the ALBC

The annual Lodge of Unity No 98 Charity Bowls Day was held at Almeria Bowling Club on Saturday 6th September. The members of Almeria Bowing Club were fantastic hosts and a really big thank you to them for their help and support. After the game a BBQ was held in the shade of the terraces where Benjamin Jackson and his team laid out a fantastic spread…a big thank you to them also. This was followed by the amazing John Lodge with a few games to raise funds for Masonic charities….thanks John as ever and a thank you too to Miraflores […]
